Katie Jones (£1,000)
“Thank you so much for the honour of becoming part of something so amazing. This programme is doing wonderful things and I can’t thank you enough. You’re probably wondering what I’m going to
do with my prize money and I have decided that I’m going to use it to put towards my fees to go to
New York in the Second year of my degree.”

Alice Riley (Mary Hayter Memorial Award, £1,000)
“Winning this award is going to have a huge impact on my university experience. It has enabled me to purchase a brand new laptop, meaning I can now have access to additional software provided by the university, to support me with all aspects of my learning. This includes being able to record lectures and note take simultaneously. I will also be able to dictate assignments and have relevant literature read to me such as; revision notes, books, journals etc, when I am not feeling very well due to my chronic illness. Not only has this award benefitted me financially, having someone hear my story and believe in my ability to continue to university, is a huge motivation to me. I am very honoured to be the recipient of this award, and I will be eternally grateful.”

Lee Jones (Amanda Brisbane Memorial Award, £1000 and a bronze sculpted penguin by Amanda’s daughter Georgia)
Lee is currently planning a solo jazz guitar tour of Japan and recently completed a PhD in music composition from the University of Salford, Manchester. He has released five solo albums covering jazz-rock, smooth jazz, swing and avant-garde. Further information can be found here.
